Explore Bergen County

Bergen County is the most populous county in the U.S. state of New Jersey. Located in the northeastern corner
of New Jersey and its Gateway Region, Bergen County is part of the New York City Metropolitan Area and is situated directly across the George Washington Bridge from Manhattan.

Bergen County is one of the wealthiest counties in the United States, with a median household income of
$81,708 per the 2010 Census, increasing to an estimated $84,255 in 2012.

 The areas of science, technology and medicine are booming industries in the area.The county has more
than 6 medical and surgical centers, many ranked in the top 20% of the United States including
Hackensack University Medical Center. 

EDUCATION

 Bergen County is known across the United States for its top tier education. 15 schools have been award the "Blue Ribbon" award by the US Department of State for academic excellence. Bergen County is ranked as one of top choices for foreign students and is home to 5 universities with specialized international programs

TRANSPORTATION

Minutes away from New York City...Bergen County is easily accessible to Manhattan by the George Washington Bridge and Lincoln Tunnel (approximately 7 kilometers). The county has over 230 active daily bus routes and 4 rail lines. 

INDUSTRY & EMPLOYERS

There is a 7.5% increase in expected employment growth in the area. The largest local employers are  Goya, Unilever, KMPG, Quest Dianostics and 3 hospitals. The retail industry, anchored in Paramus, is a mainstay of the Bergen County economy

DIVERSITY

223,000 Bergen County residents are Foreign Born, that is 33% of the total population. 51% of all homeowners are multi-national foreigners. The Most common places of foreign birth are Korea, Russia, India, Columbia, Poland, Dominican Republic and Philippines.
