2020 LUNAR NEW YEAR CELEBRATION WITH AREAA!Greater Bergen Realtors (GBR) and Asian Real Estate Association of America (AREAA) Northern New Jersey Chapter celebrated the 2020 Lunar New Year commemorating the Year of the Rat. The Lunar New Year is a celebration of a new year based on the lunisolar calendar.
This year, GBR and AREAA hosted their celebration at the at the Dol Seafood restaurant in Fort Lee, NJ. The event was organized by GBR’s Global Business Council Chair, Kathleen Houston and Vice Chair Norma Bonilla. The event had a dinner ceremony with a 7-course meal presentation as the educational component presented by AREAA and GBR member Soo Yu. The evening also included a traditional Lion Dance and instrumental performance sponsored by Fairway Mortgage, as well as a number of prizes. |

Greater Bergen REALTORS Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration
The Global Business Council and Equal Opportunity and Cultural Diversity committee teamed up to put together a very special event in celebration of Hispanic Heritage month at Segovia Restaurant in Calstadt,NJ, The evening included a very informative and educational presentation from Carmen Mercado, Single Family Affordable Lending Business Development Manager with Freddie Mac. Carmen covered a number of topics which included current and future market statistic as well as market trends within the Hispanic and latino community and the impact it will have on the U.S. market.

GBAR Global Council Host Luncheon Market Trends USA v. South East AsiaThe Greater Bergen Association of Realtors® Global Business Council hosted their second event of the year at One Park in Cliffside Park to educate our members on the most current real estate market trends happening in South East Asia and how they affect the U.S. real estate market as well as Immigration policy and legal updates. GBAR Global Council & AREAA Celebrate the Year of the Pig!
Despite the inclement weather, REALTORS and industry professionals from across New Jersey and New York came out to celebrate the year of the pig with GBAR and AREAA! This was the first kick off event for the REALTOR association since the consolidation. The evening included a very special 10 course Asian cuisine presentation and a traditional lion dance. GBAR wants to give a very special thank you to The Global Business Council Chairs, Kathleen Houston and Ronnie Khurana.

NAR 2018 REALTORS® Conference & Expo (Award & Presentation)
During the conference Jorge Ledesma, CEO spoke at the Global Business Councils Forum about community outreach and opening doors in local communities thru global. Members from across country were able to hear not only from our CEO, but also from other association their inspiring stories on the innovative ways they are connecting with their memberships, international partners, and global business community. Additionally, during the Global Council Reception, Ronnie Khurana, EBCBOR Global Business Council vice-chair accepted the 2018 Global Business Council Achievement Program Award.

NAR 2018 REALTORS® Conference & Expo (Trade Show & Meeting)The Eastern Bergen County Board of Realtors (EBCBOR) Leadership joined thousands of Realtors from across the nation for NAR’s REALTOR® Conference & Expo in Boston, MA to exchange ideas and best practices. During NAR 360, NAR leadership and staff welcomed thousands of members. The leadership team provided a jump start on insight to what's trending and important on the hot topics list for the meetings throughout the convention. This year NAR launched the new NAR Commitment to Excellence Program (or C2EX). C2EX will encourage our members to take a self-assessment and then provide the means to educate them and raise the bar on our professionalism across our industry in a consistent and calculated way.

EBCBOR Global Business Council Host Luncheon Presentation at One Park
(Cliffside Park, N.J.)- The Eastern Bergen County Board of REALTORS® (EBCBOR) Global Business Council hosted a special lunch presentation focusing on the topic of ‘Going Global’ this past Friday. The event took place at the newly constructed One Park Condominiums in Cliffside Park, N.J. The three panelists, Alireza Memar, of RE/MAX Select Properties, Larissa Ortiz, NAR 2018 CIPS Advisory Board Chair, and Benjamin Watson, Vice President of Marketing of DMG Investments LLC led an informative presentation and discussion on the current global trends and changes in the current market on a domestic and international level.

EBCBOR Global Business Council Gong Fu & Tea CeremonyEBCBOR’s Global Business Council hosted a unique and special event this past Thursday. Members attended the Gong Fu & Tea Ceremony where they got a full presentation from Pastor Young Min Jung, President of Palisades Park Chamber of Commerce. During the presentation, members were able to get a taste of Asia through small bites and a taste of different teas. Our members also learned about the historical rituals of tea preparation and serving and the impact on the Chinese culture.

EBCBOR Global Business Council Members at the Embassy of Ghana EBCBOR Global Business Council participated in NAR lottery system for embassy visit and were selected to be a part of the Realtors to visit the Embassy of Ghana during the NAR Mid-Year Legislative Convention in Washington D.C. EBCBOR Global Business Council Past Chair, Eileen O’ Driscoll and current Global Business Council Vice-Chair, Ronnie Khurana were in attendance.
It was a well-organized trip with an orientation prior to departure. Luxury coaches were provided for their round trip visit to the embassy, and were accompanied by NAR’s Director of Global Alliances, Mr. Joe Schneider. All in attendance were greeted by the embassy staff upon arrival and joined by Honorable Ambassador, Mr. Barfour Adjei-Barwuah, Deputy Works & Housing Minister, Freda Prempeh and the Managing Director of State Housing Company, Mr. Kwabena Ampofo Appiah. A delicious lunch was arranged after a brief introduction followed by a video clip and power point presentation detailing the rapid growth that Ghana has undergone in a short period of time creating a housing deficit. Realtors were informed of Ghana Housing Authority’s open door policy, available subsidies and contact information of the government run State Housing Company Limited. We were invited not only to visit Ghana but introduce this investment opportunity to other Realtors and Investors. |

2018 NAR Legislative Meetings & Trade Show: CIPS Reception & Pinning CeremonyThe Eastern Bergen County Board of Realtors (EBCBOR) Leadership joined thousands of Realtors from across the nation for NAR’s Legislative Meetings and Trade Expo in Washington D.C to meet with lawmakers to discuss some of the pressing issues for businesses, communities, and consumers. This year, NAR celebrated the 50th year anniversary of the Fair Housing Act. The meetings launched with a moving commemoration to the 50th Anniversary of the Fair Housing Act and a history of fair housing in the United States.
It was a particularly exciting year for EBCBOR’S Global Business Council at this year’s CIPS Reception and Pinning Ceremony where Ali Memar, EBCBOR member and CIPS instructor pinned 8 new CIPS Designees. Among those who were pinned where Penelope Gomes, 2018 EBCBOR Global Business Council Chair, Min K. Lim and Norma Bonilla. Both are currently serving as EBCBOR Directors. Congratulations to all! |

2018 FIABCI New York/Northeast Council's Presentation on Sustainability and Responsible Development
EBCBOR Global Business Council as well as REALTOR members attended 2017 FIABCI New York/Northeast Council's Presentation on Sustainability and Responsible Development. The evening featured a presentation on Sustainability and Responsible Development by Michael Namer, Principal of Alfa Development, the visionary Manhattan real estate developer behind a green collection of sustainable properties including 200 East 21st Street. The presentation was very informative and had everyone excited to see what the future will hold.

2017 NAR's Annual Conference & ExpoEBCBOR Global Business Council as well as REALTOR members attended the 2017 NAR Conference & Expo where two Members; Ronnie Khurana from BHG Coccia Realty and Annekee Brahver-Keely were officially pinned as CIPS Designee.
